It is normal to feel overwhelmed with your results. It is important to our team that we fully explain what we have discovered about your fertility and present your options for discussion. We want you to feel empowered to make the best decision for your health and fertility goals.
Testing Your Fertility & Reproductive Health
What is Reproductive Endocrinology?
Reproductive endocrinology is a subspecialty of OB/GYN focused on identifying and treating infertility, menopause and other conditions concerning reproductive hormones for both men and women. Reproductive endocrinologists are OB/GYN physicians with advanced training and certification. In addition to their obstetric and gynecology board certifications, reproductive endocrinologists complete a three-year fellowship in endocrine disorders related to male and female reproductive systems.
Hormone Assessment
During a hormone assessment, we run blood tests to measure estrogen, FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), AMH (anti-Müllerian hormone), and other hormones. These measurements help us determine your fertility level/ovarian reserve.
Vaginal Ultrasound
In the early phase of your menstrual cycle, we perform a vaginal ultrasound to count ovarian follicles. This is called the antral follicle count (AFC) and it measures your fertility level/ovarian reserve.
Hysterosalpingogram (HSG)
The hysterosalpingogram (HSG) is an outpatient procedure in which we use x-ray to evaluate the condition of your fallopian tubes and uterus. This procedure is typically performed if you have a history of fibroids, miscarriages, or polyps or if you have been unable to conceive.
Medical & Family History
Your medical and family history can have a direct effect on your fertility. Our team will guide you through a series of questions to help our clinicians craft a personalized fertility treatment plan.
