Infertility and the COVID-19 Vaccine: Is there a link?
As we learn more about COVID-19 and the COVID-19 vaccine, we think about potential outcomes for our health and our future regularly. Every day, one of my fertility patients asks me about the COVID-19 vaccine and infertility.
From what we know, medical experts continue to assert that COVID vaccines do not impact fertility. Furthermore, given research on non-pregnant individuals, COVID-19 mRNA vaccines are not thought to cause an increased risk of infertility.
We also know that available data suggest those who are pregnant are at an elevated risk of severe illness from COVID-19, according to the CDC. Knowing this, if you’re considering getting pregnant, it is even more important to vaccinate against COVID-19 for your health and for your baby’s health. I know you know this but your health during your pregnancy is equally as important as the health of your future baby.
If you’re asking yourself whether or not it’s right for you to get the COVID-19 vaccine, call us today to set up your consultation and you can tell us what concerns you. We’d love to address your questions.
