RSC Fertility Joins National Infertility Awareness Week — and We Hope You'll Join Us

Posted on April 13, 2026by RSC Staff

National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW) matters deeply to us at Reproductive Specialists of the Carolinas. It’s a time for open, honest conversations about fertility—the science behind it, the waiting, the uncertainty, the quiet grief, and the stubborn hope that define this journey for many individuals and families.

This year, we're not just observing the week. We're showing up for it — in our office, on our social channels, and out in the Charlotte community.

A Week of Awareness at RSC

All week long, our team at 1918 Randolph Road will be wearing orange — the official color of infertility awareness — as a visible sign of solidarity with every patient who walks through our doors and every person navigating this path, whether they've told anyone yet or not.

We'll also have a special gift waiting for every patient who visits our office during NIAW. It's a small gesture, but it reflects that we’re #MoreThan just supporters-we are dedicated advocates committed to empowering our patients.

Behind the scenes, our social media channels will be active all week with stories that reflect the real, unfiltered dimensions of the fertility journey. Expect to hear from voices across our community — because infertility doesn't look one way, and the people it touches deserve to see themselves reflected in the conversation.

Why Awareness Still Matters

Infertility affects approximately 1 in 6 people worldwide, yet it remains one of the most isolating health experiences a person can go through. The silence around it can make an already difficult journey feel even heavier. That's why weeks like NIAW are so important — not because a single week can undo years of stigma, but because every conversation that happens this week chips away at it.

At RSC, we see the impact of that silence every day. Patients who waited years before seeking a fertility evaluation did so because they didn't realize how common fertility challenges are. Couples who struggled alone because they didn't know where to turn. Individuals who assumed their feelings of grief or frustration were something they should just push through.

Awareness changes that. It gives people permission to ask for help — and it reminds them that a community is waiting when they do.

The Fertility Landscape Is Broader Than Most People Think

One of the things we hope to highlight during NIAW is how many paths the fertility journey can take. Some patients come to us for IVF after months or years of trying to conceive. Others are exploring egg freezing as part of a proactive plan for their future. Some are building families through donor egg programs or gestational surrogacy. Others are beginning with less-invasive options like IUI.

And for many LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, the fertility journey isn't about overcoming a diagnosis — it's simply the path to parenthood, and it deserves the same compassionate, personalized support as any other.

No matter the starting point, every one of these stories belongs in the conversation this week.

Sunday, April 26: CLT Hope on Tap

We're especially proud this year to serve as the presenting sponsor of the 2026 CLT Hope on Tap event — one of Charlotte's most meaningful gatherings for the fertility community.

Hope on Tap is an afternoon of open, honest conversations about all aspects of the fertility journey, with a focus on real stories and genuine connection.

Dr. Matrika Johnson on the Community Panel

Dr. Matrika Johnson, RSC's founder, Medical Director, and board-certified Reproductive Endocrinologist, will be a featured panelist in the event's community panel discussion. The panel brings together perspectives that are too often left out of the fertility conversation — including the emotional and psychological dimensions that are just as real as the medical ones.

For Dr. Johnson, community engagement reflects her daily approach at RSC: caring for the whole person means listening and making space for the emotional weight of fertility journeys alongside treatment.

The panel format is designed to feel like a conversation, not a lecture — a space where attendees can hear from people who genuinely understand what they're going through and walk away feeling a little less alone.

Who Should Attend?

Hope on Tap welcomes anyone affected by fertility challenges or those supporting loved ones.

It's also a meaningful space for partners, family members, and friends who want to better understand what their loved ones are experiencing. Fertility challenges affect entire networks of people, and Hope on Tap acknowledges that.
